PROCESSION OF LAS ANGUSTIAS (DISTRESS OF THE VIRGIN)
Religious brotherhood in charge: Hermandad Obrera de Nuestra Señora de Las Angustias, San José Obrero y San Pío X.
There are three main sculptures in this procession: La Virgen de las Angustias (Our Lady of Distress), San José Obrero (Saint Joseph the Worker), who is an icon for the workers who founded the brotherhood, and San Pío X (Pope Pius X), who is a symbol of the similarities between his and the brotherhood’s acts of charity.
The sculpture that represents Nuestra Señora de las Angustias (Our Lady of Distress) holding Jesus Christ on her lap was carved by the sculptor Diego Márquez in the 17th century.
